Why a Canberra agent

ACT nomination is a local game

AuzRoo works from Canberra, and ACT nomination is the work we do most. Local experience counts for more here than it does in most states.

The ACT does things its own way. Nomination for the subclass 190 and 491 visas runs through the Canberra Matrix, a ranked points system that sits on top of the Department’s points test and weighs things like how long you have lived and worked in Canberra, your occupation, your English, and your spouse’s situation. Ranking well is not the same as scoring well on the federal points test, and the ACT publishes its own critical skills list and invitation rounds.

We follow those rounds closely, and we will tell you honestly if your Matrix ranking is unlikely to attract an invitation this round rather than take you on regardless.

Common questions

Using a migration agent in Canberra

No, you can lodge an application yourself. What a registered agent adds is an honest read of your options, an application prepared to the standard the Department expects, and someone accountable if something goes wrong. Only agents registered with the OMARA may lawfully give immigration assistance for a fee in Australia, and they are bound by a Code of Conduct.

Yes. We are based in Canberra but work with clients across Australia and offshore. Consultations are held online or by phone, and documents are exchanged securely, so where you are does not change the service you get.

The Canberra Matrix is the ACT Government’s own ranking system for skilled visa nomination. You submit a Matrix score, and the ACT invites the highest ranked candidates in each round. It scores things the federal points test does not, such as how long you have lived and worked in Canberra, your occupation, your English level and your partner’s circumstances. Criteria and invitation cut-offs change, so check the current ACT requirements before you rely on a score.

It depends on the visa and the complexity of your situation. Our professional fee is fixed and confirmed in writing before any work begins, so you are never billed a surprise. Government application charges are separate and are set by the Department, not by us. The first 30-minute consultation is free.

Every registered agent has a MARN, a Migration Agents Registration Number, and appears on the public OMARA register. Ours is MARN 2518975. You can look up any agent on the register before you pay them anything, and you should.

No, and nobody can. Only the Department of Home Affairs decides visa applications. Any agent who guarantees an outcome is breaching the Code of Conduct. What we can do is tell you honestly where you stand and put the strongest properly evidenced case in front of the decision maker.
